What this is
Bharat is an attempt to build one place a traveller can go to understand any location in India — history, food, culture, where to stay, realistic costs, and honest "know before you go" notes — rather than stitching it together from a dozen tabs of Google, TripAdvisor, and blog posts.
The current build covers India's 45 UNESCO World Heritage Sites as a starting scope, chosen because it's finite, well-documented, and high-tourist-intent — a way to prove the format before attempting village-level coverage across the country.
How content is made — please read this
Every page on this site is compiled from publicly available information and general knowledge, not independently fact-checked against official sources at the scale this project requires. Some facts (like the Taj Mahal's ticket prices and timings) were individually cross-checked against multiple sources; most were drafted from general knowledge with an explicit disclaimer on the page itself.
Please verify prices, opening hours, closure days, and safety details independently before you travel — these change over time, and this site is not a substitute for checking official sources (ASI, UNESCO, state tourism boards) close to your travel date.
Local-guide contact details aren't real yet — every page flags this openly as a gap rather than inventing them. Traveller ratings and reviews, on the other hand, are real: the star rating and review sections on each site's page collect genuine visitor input, kept separate from the first-pass editorial ratings drafted before any real travellers had visited.
A note on what's still gated
As of 09 September 2026, this site is open to everyone — no login required for the guide content itself. The one exception is the interactive map, which stays admin-only: its outline is traced from the Survey of India's official boundary data, and their copyright policy requires written permission even for non-commercial use — permission not yet obtained. It'll open up once that's resolved.
